Based in Bolton · Bolton & Atherton test preparation
Shah Driving School helps people across Bolton and surrounding areas learn to drive safely, confidently and at a pace that suits them. From first-time learners to people returning after a break, we arrange structured manual and automatic tuition with DVSA-approved instructors and practical support for learners preparing for Bolton and Atherton driving tests.
We're here for the whole learning journey: understanding your starting point, choosing the right instructor, practising the skills you find difficult and recognising when you're ready for more independence on the road.
Why we do what we do
Some people arrive for their first lesson excited. Others feel nervous about traffic, junctions, hills or trying again after a difficult test. Our job is not to push every learner through the same checklist. It's to understand what you know, explain the next skill clearly and give you time to practise.
Shah Driving School is based in Bolton. Our instructors teach on local roads and in the traffic conditions learners are likely to meet every day, while developing the observation, planning and Judgement needed wherever they drive.
We offer automatic lessons, manual lessons, intensive options and support for new, returning and test-ready drivers.

How our lessons work
For a first-time learner, that could mean seating position, controls, mirrors, moving away and stopping before attempting more demanding junctions.
As confidence improves, your instructor introduces traffic awareness, observation timing, roundabouts, road positioning and independent decisions.
Lessons can focus on gaps identified by your instructor, from manoeuvres and mock-test practice to specific situations that need more work.
Our services
From your very first lesson to focused practice before a test, we offer flexible options to help you develop the skills, confidence and independence you need on the road.
Learn clutch control, gear selection, hill starts and safe driving decisions with lessons adapted to your experience.
Explore manual lessons →Focus on road awareness, positioning and safe decision-making without using a clutch or changing manual gears.

For learners preparing for Bolton or Atherton driving test centres, instructors can work on their individual weaknesses and driving consistency. Test routes are not fixed, and no outcome can be guaranteed.
